Chapter 23: A House Full of Love
The hospital room was filled with soft beeping monitors, muted light, and the warmth of new life. Poornima lay on the bed, tired but glowing, her hair sticking to her forehead, yet the smile on her lips brighter than ever.
Veeresh stood beside her, holding not one—but two tiny bundles in his arms. His eyes shimmered with tears he didn’t bother hiding. A soft boy wrapped in blue and a delicate girl in pink—his twins.
He looked at Poornima, awestruck. “Twins, Poornima... we made twins.”
Poornima chuckled weakly. “You say that like you baked them in the oven.”
He sat beside her, placing a soft kiss on each baby's forehead and then leaned in, kissed her cheeks lovingly, and whispered, “Next 5 or 6, be ready. I will not leave you, Mrs. Suryavanshi.”
She groaned and rolled her eyes playfully. “Veeresh, I will kill you.”
He smirked. “That’s the spirit. But first, recover. We have years ahead of sleepless nights and baby cuddles.”
Just then, Ayan and Aradhya rushed into the room with beaming faces. Ayan carefully climbed up on the side of the bed and hugged his mom. “Amma, they are so small! Are they really our brother and sister?”
Aradhya peeked from behind Veeresh’s leg, shy but excited. Veeresh gently lowered the girl twin to her level. “Come say hi, baby. She’s your little sister.”
Aradhya giggled and gave a sloppy kiss to her baby sister’s forehead. Ayan gave his baby brother a light peck and said proudly, “I’ll protect them like I protect Aru.”
Veeresh smiled, his heart full, his arms fuller. He looked around the room—Poornima, his light; Ayan and Aradhya, his strength; and the newborns, his future.
“This…” he whispered, pulling Poornima close, “This is what heaven looks like.”
Poornima, exhausted but peaceful, rested her head on his shoulder. Their babies lay in his arms, their older kids giggling around, and in that moment—the chaos of life faded into the harmony of love.
