Chapter 10: In Each Other’s Arms

The room was filled with the soft hum of silence — broken only by heavy breaths and unshed tears.

Veeresh looked at her, truly looked at her — her tear-streaked face, her trembling lips, the fire in her eyes that hadn’t died despite everything she’d endured.

And then, without a word, he pulled her close and kissed her.

It wasn’t just a kiss.

It was a release — of guilt, pain, regret, longing.

A deep, passionate kiss that spoke what words never could.

Poornima gasped softly, surprised, but she didn’t stop him. Something inside her cracked — a wall that had stood for too long. She kissed him back, with a hunger she didn’t know she still had.

Their breath mingled. Their hearts beat wildly.

Veeresh moved to her cheeks, pressing slow kisses, letting his lips leave marks of belonging on her skin. A few love bites followed — on her neck, on her collarbone. His hands possessively wrapped around her waist as if telling the universe she was his and his alone.

She let him.

For once, she didn't resist the pull of emotion, of vulnerability. Maybe, physical love did soothe pain sometimes.

They collapsed onto the bed, tangled in each other. Veeresh held her tight, his weight resting over her, as if he was afraid she’d disappear again. She gently ran her fingers through his hair, silent but comforting.

> “You’re my peace now,” Veeresh whispered against her neck.

She closed her eyes, allowing her guard to fall. Her hand found his and clutched it tightly.

And just like that, in the chaos of pain, betrayal, and shattered pieces — they fell asleep wrapped in each other’s arms, two broken hearts finding refuge in one another.

That night, there were no more tears.

Only quiet, healing closeness.

They were no longer strangers in pain, but each other’s anchor.
