That night, Veeresh returned home late. Poornima was waiting for him in the softly lit dining room, the table neatly set. He sat down, ate quietly, and for the first time in days, there was peace in his expression.

After dinner, he looked at her and said in his steady voice,

“My ex-wife, Ritika, came today. But don’t worry about anything. I am not leaving you—anytime, ever.”

Before she could respond, Veeresh stood, pulling her gently into his arms. He kissed her deeply, passionately, then scooped her into his arms and carried her upstairs.

Laying her down carefully on their bed, he hovered over her, his gaze raw and unguarded.

“I don’t even know when you became this important to me. Yes, I have anger issues… but I will try to control them. You are my home, Poornima. I found my forever in you. I won’t force you to accept me, but at least know my feelings. Because I can’t lie or pretend anymore.”

He brushed his thumb against her cheek, then quietly went into the shower, leaving her staring after him.

Poornima smiled to herself, her thoughts soft and teasing. This man… such an arrogant ass sometimes. But he loves me. He actually said it—indirectly, in his own way. Her heart felt lighter, freer. When Veeresh came out of the shower, he slipped into bed, pulled her close against his chest, and without another word, fell asleep with his arm firmly around her.
