Chapter 57: A Mother’s Embrace

The next morning, the air in London felt gentler than usual. Veeresh and Poornima walked toward the small café, both quiet, both knowing how much this meeting meant.

Inside, Veeresh’s mother sat by the window, her frail frame wrapped in a soft shawl, her eyes lighting up the moment she saw her son.

Poornima turned to him and whispered, “Go. Talk to her.”

Veeresh took a deep breath and stepped forward. For a second, he froze — the years of hurt, distance, and resentment holding him back. But then, his mother rose from her chair, tears glistening in her eyes, and without hesitation, she opened her arms.

“Veeresh…” she breathed.

That one word broke every wall he had built. He stepped into her arms, hugging her tightly. The dam inside him burst — years of anger melting into tears.

She held his face in her trembling hands. “I’m sorry… for not being a good mother,” she said, her voice shaking. “Look at you… you’ve grown into such a strong man. You built everything from your own hard work. I’m so proud of you.”

Veeresh couldn’t hold back anymore. His voice cracked. “Mom… I love you.”

She smiled through her tears. “And I love you, my son. I was only twenty… I didn’t know what to do back then. I made mistakes, but I never stopped loving you. Please… be happy with Poornima. Forget the past, and start building your life with her. She’s a good girl.”

She reached into her bag and took out his favorite homemade dish — still warm. “Your favorite,” she said softly. “Just like old times.”

Veeresh’s eyes glistened as he accepted it, his heart finally at peace.

Poornima watched from a distance, her heart swelling with emotion. She knew this moment would heal the parts of him she could never reach alone.

They all sat together, sharing lunch — mother, son, and wife. The café filled with laughter, gentle smiles, and unspoken forgiveness.

For the first time in years, Veeresh felt whole. Between the woman who gave him life and the woman who gave him love, his heart finally found peace.
