Chapter 4

Veeresh was called to his father’s room. As he entered, he looked around and asked, “Dad… what is it?”

Veerendra Singh gestured toward the chair. “Sit down, son.”

Veeresh obeyed, though a faint smile crossed his face. “Kavya is happy… and I am happy too,” he said.

Veerendra’s eyes softened, but his voice carried a serious tone. “Veeresh… you will be getting married… to Poornima.”

Veeresh froze, his eyes widening in shock. “What are you saying, Dad? How… how will I marry my samdhan? This… this is impossible!”

Veerendra leaned forward, steady and calm. “Son, this… this will change everything.”

Veeresh’s confusion grew. “Change… how?”

Veerendra’s voice grew firm but gentle. “Society will change… by your marriage. People will mock us, criticize, question… everything. But it will change. And I know you will handle everything, Veeresh.”

Veeresh ran a hand over his face, trying to absorb the weight of his father’s words. “I… I need time to think. I should talk to Kavya.”

Veerendra shook his head slightly, a small smile forming. “I have already told her yes for your marriage.”

Veeresh’s jaw tightened. “Dad… you can’t do that. Did Poornima even agree?”

Veerendra’s expression remained calm. “Pratap said no… but she will. We have our ways.”

Veeresh looked at his father, a mix of awe and worry in his eyes. “Dad…”

Veerendra placed a hand on his son’s shoulder. “Son… trust me.”

Veeresh exhaled slowly and nodded. “I do… always.”
