Chapter 30: A House Full of Light

Poornima felt lighter than she had in a long time.

She went downstairs to prepare dinner, her steps unhurried, her heart calm. The maid helped her chop vegetables and set the vessels on the stove. Poornima moved around the kitchen with quiet confidence, tasting, adjusting, arranging—doing what she loved most: caring.

She laid the table neatly, making sure everyone’s place was set.

By the time Veeresh came down, the kids were already seated, their voices filling the room with easy laughter.

Poornima began serving.

As she moved around the table, Veeresh couldn’t help himself—his eyes kept drifting to her waist, where the chain rested softly against her saree. He smiled to himself.

Poornima felt his gaze.

A faint blush crept up her cheeks. She quickly focused on the children, pretending not to notice, her shyness sweet and unmistakable.

When she came to serve Veeresh, he looked up at her and said quietly, half-smiling,
“Don’t ignore me, Poornima.”

Before she could react, he gave a gentle, playful pinch at her waist—nothing rough, just teasing.

She gasped softly and looked at him, shocked.

“Veeresh,” she whispered.

He chuckled.

She sat down immediately, trying to hide her smile, and Veeresh served her food himself—careful, attentive, proud.

Dinner began.

Rudraksh was patiently helping Mannat eat, wiping her hand when she spilled.

“Eat properly,” he told her seriously.

“Okay, bhaiya,” Mannat replied, giggling.

Siya and Samarth exchanged looks and laughed, William and Charles joined in, and soon the table was filled with soft giggles and happy noise.

Poornima watched the scene, her eyes moist—not with sadness, but gratitude.

Veeresh looked around too.

Children laughing.
Food being shared.
A woman beside him who smiled without fear.

Nothing dramatic happened that night.

No declarations.
No promises spoken aloud.

Just a family eating dinner together.

And sometimes, that is the most beautiful kind of happiness.
