Veeresh stepped out of the bathroom, water still dripping from his hair, the faint smell of soap filling the room. The day outside was quiet, soft light spilling in through the window.

She turned fully now and hugged him tightly, her face pressed into his chest.

“Thank you,” she said, voice thick with emotion.
“For everything. For not making fun of my fears. For not judging my past.”

He lifted her face gently.

“Don’t thank me,” he said, pecking her lips—quick, affectionate, real.

He smiled.

“We are happy.”

She smiled back, resting her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat—steady, certain.

Outside, the world was still learning to change.
Inside that room, change had already found its home.
