Chapter 48: Familiar Bonds

The house buzzed with excitement as Ridhima, Kayan, and Kavya arrived.

Warm hugs, greetings, laughter—Poornima and the kids welcomed them wholeheartedly. The living room felt alive with energy, conversations flowing easily, yet comfortable.

Poornima moved gracefully between them, serving snacks, arranging glasses, and chatting lightly. Rudra, ever the helper, guided Kayan and Kavya to their spots, making sure they felt at home immediately.

Veeresh, standing slightly apart, smiled warmly. “How are you doing?” he asked, genuinely curious.

Kayan and Kavya smiled, a little shy, a little amused, at how natural the household had become.

Ridhima’s eyes, however, caught something—Veeresh and Poornima sharing that effortless closeness. A spark of unease, subtle and unspoken, flickered within her.

Veeresh noticed—just enough to register it—but he chose to ignore it.

“Get some rest,” he said softly, stepping back.

Rudra, seeing the moment, grinned. “Come on, Kayan and Kavya. We’ll show you to your room.”

And just like that, the siblings moved off, laughter trailing behind them.

Ramir and Mannat grabbed snacks, heading upstairs to their own space, teasing each other along the way.

Veeresh lingered for a moment, eyes meeting Poornima’s. No words were spoken—just the silent conversation of familiarity and understanding. She saw it, understood it, and followed him upstairs quietly.

Once they were alone, she moved behind him to help with his jacket and shirt. Her hands brushed his back as she adjusted his clothes. He closed his eyes for a second, leaning back slightly into her touch, a quiet comfort settling between them.

No words were necessary. Their eyes, their gestures, their presence spoke volumes—of trust, of love, and of a bond that had matured far beyond what either had imagined.
