Chapter 75 — Our Miracle

Veeresh was slowly getting back to himself—stronger with each passing day—but his eyes never left Poornima. She was in her final days now, her body heavy with life, every breath a reminder of how precious and fragile this phase was.

The doctor didn’t wait.

“She needs to be admitted immediately,” the doctor said firmly. “At this age, we can’t take risks.”

Veeresh’s heart skipped, but he nodded without hesitation. “Do whatever is needed, doctor. Please.”

The hours that followed felt endless.

Veeresh stood outside the operation theatre, hands clasped, lips whispering prayers he hadn’t spoken in years. Rudra, Ramir, Mannat, Kayan, and Kavya stood beside him—silent, anxious, united.

Then the doors opened.

“Congratulations,” the doctor said with a smile. “It’s twins. A boy and a girl.”

For a moment, Veeresh couldn’t breathe.

Twins.

His eyes filled instantly. He folded his hands, overwhelmed, and whispered, “Thank you… thank you.”

But the doctor’s expression turned serious again. “Because of her age, we need to operate immediately. It’s safer for her.”

Veeresh didn’t hesitate even for a second. “Yes, doctor. Please go ahead. Save her.”

Those minutes felt longer than his entire life.

When he was finally allowed in, Poornima lay there, pale but conscious, a faint smile playing on her lips the moment she saw him.

“Veer…” she whispered.

He rushed to her side, cupping her face carefully, as if she might disappear again if he wasn’t gentle.

“How are you feeling?” he asked, his voice breaking.

She smiled. “Good,” she said softly. “We did it.”

He leaned down and kissed her forehead, his lips lingering there in gratitude and love.

“My woman,” he whispered.
“My Poons.”

Tears slipped from his eyes, falling onto her hand as he held it tightly—this time not in fear, but in overwhelming joy.

Outside, two tiny lives cried into the world.

Inside, Veeresh knew one thing with absolute certainty:

This—this family, this woman—was the miracle he had almost lost and would protect for the rest of his life.
