Chapter 40: Finally, Us
Veeresh stepped into the penthouse, and the familiar sight of Poornima by the window stopped him for a heartbeat.
Her hair caught the light of the setting sun, her eyes soft, calm, waiting.
He moved closer, instinctively. One hand rested lightly near her chest, the other firm on her waist. He pulled her gently yet possessively toward him.
She smiled—a smile that had survived heartbreak, distance, and doubt—and it reached all the corners of his chest that had been frozen for a year.
“Everything feels… nice now,” he murmured, voice low, almost confessional. “I’m… trying to be kind to myself.”
He turned her face toward him, cupping her jaw softly, and pecked her lips—a small, tender promise.
“Thanks… for everything,” he whispered.
Poornima shook her head gently, a warmth in her eyes.
“Don’t thank me. I’m happy you changed… for you. And I know… you’ll be good.”
Veeresh smiled then—not the dangerous, restless man he once was, but the man she had always believed he could become.
And without thinking, without hesitation, he kissed her—deeply, fully, like making up for every lost moment.
She kissed him back, melting into him, letting the years of pain, love, fear, and hope dissolve into that single, infinite moment.
Finally, they were just them.
No games. No revenge. No distance.
Just love.
And the penthouse, the city, the world—they all faded, leaving only the warmth of hearts finally aligned.
