Chapter 41: Cutting Ties, Keeping Love

Poornima walked into her parents’ home with Veeresh beside her, a quiet strength in his presence. The air felt heavy—cold with judgment, thick with resentment.

Neha and Rivan didn’t hesitate. Their words were sharp, deliberate.
“You will not be part of the property anymore,” they said. “Sign these documents and sever all ties.”

Poornima’s hands trembled as the papers were placed in front of her.

Gayathri, her elder sister, stood nearby with a smirk, her eyes gleaming with cruel satisfaction. She mocked, sneered, and insulted her, making Poornima flinch from the sting of betrayal from someone she had once trusted.

Veeresh’s hand twitched in anger, rising instinctively toward Gayathri—but he stopped himself, took a deep breath, and focused on Poornima instead.

“Sign the papers,” he said firmly, voice steady. “You don’t need any of this. None of it. You have me. That’s enough.”

Poornima wiped her tears, biting her lip. Her parents had cut all ties. Her family had turned their back. And yet, in the shadow of loss, something far greater stood before her—Veeresh. The man who had once betrayed her, married her twice, and changed himself completely. The man who had claimed her heart, her soul, and now her life.

She signed the papers. Every stroke of the pen felt like both an ending and a beginning.

Veeresh took her hand in his, warmth and certainty radiating from his touch.
“My wife will not come here again,” he said softly. Then, with his hand on her waist, he guided her out, away from judgment, away from cruelty.

As they stepped into the fresh air, Poornima let herself breathe.

I may have lost one family, she thought, tears slipping down her cheeks, but I’ve gained my one true love—the man who once betrayed me, married me twice, changed for me, and finally… is mine.

And for the first time, in a long time, she smiled freely, her heart finally at home.
