Chapter: A Question That Changed Everything

The engagement ceremony of Gayathri and Rehan was grand.

Laughter filled the hall.

Families mingled.

Blessings were exchanged.

Poornima stood with Neha, Sirisha, and Yashwanth, genuinely smiling.

She was happy for them—no bitterness, no regret.

As the rituals settled, Devraj, Veeresh’s father, spoke casually, almost thoughtfully.

“Why don’t we think about Veeresh and Poornima’s marriage next?”

The words fell like thunder.

Poornima froze.

Before anyone could react, she spoke—clear and firm.

“No.”

The hall went silent.

Kashinath Rathore frowned.

“She is not part of Rathore Industries anymore,” he said coldly.

“She only runs restaurants.”

Veeresh stepped forward without hesitation.

“I don’t mind.”

Poornima looked at him—shocked.

Her friends exchanged stunned glances.

Devraj raised his hand gently.

“Beta, don’t rush,” he said to Veeresh.

“Think calmly. Answer later.”

Veeresh nodded, but his eyes never left Poornima.

There were no words—

but his gaze said everything he hadn’t spoken yet.

Concern.

Respect.

Something deeper.

The elders slowly moved away.

Conversations resumed elsewhere.

Veeresh left with his parents, turning once more to look at her.

Poornima stood rooted.

When the hall finally emptied, only Poornima and her friends remained.

Neha broke the silence first.

“Did that just happen?”

Poornima exhaled softly.

“Yes,” she said.

“And I’m not ready.”

Sirisha held her hand.

“Whatever you choose—we’re with you.”

Poornima looked ahead, her heart racing.

For years, she had built a life on her own terms.

And now—

Someone had just asked her to change everything.
