Chapter: Between Fear and Hope

After the engagement, Poornima returned to Mannat Inn.

The familiar smell of spices, the rhythm of the kitchen, the warmth of her people—

this was her safe place.

Her staff surrounded her with smiles.

“Madam, congratulations!”

“We’re so happy for you!”

She smiled back, genuine and grateful.

As she tied her apron, her eyes fell on the ring on her finger.

For a moment, her smile faded.

She remembered his face—

how it fell just slightly when she spoke her conditions.

Not anger.

Not resistance.

Hurt.

Her chest tightened.

Did I hurt him too much? she wondered.

But then another thought followed—

I wasn’t ready for another pain.

So she had chosen safety.

She knew these conditions would change everything—

slow the love, test the patience, shape the future.

But growth needed boundaries.

In the quiet corner of the kitchen, she closed her eyes.

“God,” she whispered,

“please let him and his family never treat me the way my family did.”

Somewhere deep inside, beneath the fear—

Her heart felt light.

Because even with the doubts…

she was hopeful.

And for Poornima Rathore,

hope was a brave beginning.
