Chapter: Grace Without Claim
Morning moved gently between them—shared silence, familiar routines, no rush. After freshening up, they left together for the Devraj mansion, the drive calm, the city waking around them. Veeresh kept glancing at her, the memory of the previous night still warm in his chest. She sat beside him, composed, quiet, steady—as if carrying strength without ever announcing it.
At the mansion, Devraj was already waiting.
The moment Veeresh stepped in, his father’s face softened with approval.
“Veeresh,” Devraj said, voice firm but pleased, “the client was happy. Very happy. You should thank her. She found the error that changed everything.”
Poornima immediately shook her head, gentle but certain.
“Uncle, not like that,” she said softly. “Veeresh did everything correctly. The client only wanted the steps explained clearly. I just pointed it out—he executed it.”
Her words carried no false humility, no hunger for credit. Just truth, placed carefully where it belonged.
Devraj watched her for a long second, then smiled—slow, knowing, proud. Not just of his son, but of the woman standing beside him.
Veeresh said nothing, but something settled deep inside him.
She doesn’t like praise, he realized.
Not because she doubts herself… but because she doesn’t need validation.
He looked at her—at the quiet confidence, the grace that refused applause—and felt something shift. This wasn’t a woman who stood behind him in shadow. She stood beside him by choice, strengthening him without ever competing.
Devraj nodded.
“That is also leadership,” he said calmly. “Knowing when to step forward—and when to let others shine.”
Poornima lowered her gaze slightly, respectful, unchanged.
Veeresh smiled to himself.
Not because she corrected a proposal.
Not because she helped him win a deal.
But because she carried strength so naturally—
and chose love over recognition, every single time.
