Chapter 42

Silence That Heals

The weight in ’s chest felt lighter.

“Thanks, Poornima,” he said quietly.

She looked at him immediately. “Don’t tell me thanks.”

He almost smiled at that.

“You want to stay here for some more time?” she asked softly.

He looked at the flowing river, the dark sky stretching endlessly above them. For once, there were no board meetings, no rivals, no expectations. Just the sound of water moving forward — like life itself.

“Yes,” he said. “Let’s stay.”

They sat there on the cool sand. The night breeze moved her hair gently, and after a moment of hesitation, she rested her head on his shoulder.

He stiffened for a second — not because he didn’t want it, but because he wasn’t used to comfort without conditions.

Then slowly, he relaxed.

For the first time in years, his mind wasn’t running.

No past betrayal.
No broken mother.
No dying promise.

Just her warmth beside him.

closed her eyes, listening to the river. She could feel his steady breathing, calmer now. Not cold. Not distant.

Present.

His hand moved unconsciously, resting over hers. Not possessive. Not demanding.

Just… holding.

He realized something in that quiet moment — peace was not loud. It did not come with passion or fire.

It came like this.

Soft. Still. Real.

They didn’t speak much after that.

They just sat together, watching the river flow under the moonlight, feeling each other’s presence like a silent promise.

And for once, neither of them were afraid of tomorrow.

One line:
Kabhi kabhi pyaar lafzon se nahi… sirf saath baithne se mehsoos hota hai.
