Chapter 48
A Journey Together
In the office, Rayan stepped forward carefully. “Sir, you have an important meeting in London for the upcoming deal. You’ll need to leave soon.”
nodded. “Alright.”
But as soon as Rayan left, his thoughts shifted.
London.
A business trip.
Days away.
He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes briefly.
My Kincsem should come.
And Inayat.
Not because he needed company.
Because he wanted them there.
Because he wanted to see the city with her. Wanted to spend time without walls, without distance, without this mansion’s history pressing around them.
The decision settled quietly inside him.
When he reached home, Leelavati looked at him gently. “Tea, Veeresh?”
“Yes,” he said — softer than before.
She handed it to him. “Thanks, Mom,” he replied naturally this time.
The word didn’t feel forced anymore.
He went upstairs.
In the room, was making Inayat ready, adjusting her hair, smiling at something the child said.
He paused at the door.
For a man who could negotiate billion-dollar deals without blinking… asking his wife to travel with him suddenly felt complicated.
How do you ask someone to step further into your life when you’re still learning how to open it?
Poornima noticed him standing there.
She could see it in his eyes — he wanted to say something.
But she didn’t push.
Let him open up, she told herself. I can’t force him. I’ll just stay.
He walked closer.
“Kincsem.”
She froze.
Her heart skipped.
She knew the meaning of that word. Treasure. Rare one.
She looked at him, surprised but smiling softly.
“I want you… and Inayat… to come with me.”
She tilted her head slightly. “Is it okay for you?”
He stepped closer.
“Yes, Kincsem.”
No hesitation.
No doubt.
She felt warmth spread through her chest at the way he said it — not casually, not teasingly, but intentionally.
“I have a meeting in London. We’ll stay there a few days. It will be good… for us.”
For us.
That word meant more than the trip.
Her smile widened.
“Okay,” she said gently. “We’ll pack.”
He watched her for a second longer, realizing how natural this felt — inviting her into his world, not as an obligation but as a choice.
For the first time, he wasn’t taking her somewhere out of responsibility.
He was taking her because he wanted her beside him.
One line:
Kabhi kabhi safar sheher ka nahi hota… dil ke kareeb aane ka hota hai.
