Chapter 49
Across Skies, Closer Hearts
Before leaving, Leelavati walked into the room where was packing.
She adjusted the sarees carefully and added a shawl. “Make this trip beautiful,” she said softly. “Be happy.”
Poornima looked at her.
“You are our blessing,” Leelavati continued, her voice thick with emotion. “Ever since you came into this house, everything changed. I got my son back… I got my family back. I am lucky to have such a beautiful daughter.”
Poornima’s eyes filled.
“Maa… you have been the best mom to me. Thank you for everything.”
Leelavati gently tapped her cheek. “Stop. No thank you between us.”
That warmth stayed in Poornima’s heart as evening fell and the three of them left for England.
On the flight, sat beside her, Inayat near the window, excited but slowly getting sleepy.
Poornima looked out at the vast sky and felt a sudden nervousness.
“I’m scared, Veer.”
Without a second thought, he held her hand firmly.
“Don’t worry. I’m there.”
Those two words grounded her.
After a while, he leaned slightly closer. “Kincsem… after the deal, we’ll roam London. I stayed there for eight years. I’ll show you everything.”
There was pride in his voice. And something softer.
He was not just taking her on a trip.
He was taking her into his past.
She smiled at him.
Soon, exhaustion took over. Veeresh rested his head gently on her shoulder. Inayat curled on the other side.
She sat between them — one child on her side, one man leaning against her.
And she felt peace.
She touched her belly softly — now seven months — feeling the steady life inside her.
Her heart whispered something she had been afraid to admit.
He is letting me in.
By calling her Kincsem.
By sharing London.
By resting his head without fear.
She looked down at him sleeping peacefully — a man who once guarded every emotion, now vulnerable enough to trust her shoulder.
She smiled.
She was ready.
Ready to build a life.
Ready to heal him fully.
Ready to love him without fear.
One line:
Kabhi kabhi aasman ke safar mein… do dil zameen se zyada kareeb aa jaate hain.
