Chapter 21: Confidence in Every Step
Poornima stepped into the office, the early morning buzz around her immediately catching her attention. Whispers and smiles followed her as colleagues noticed her arrival.
“Congratulations, Poornima!” a few greeted her warmly.
She smiled politely, feeling a flutter of excitement and nerves. Ritwik approached her, a folder in hand. “Here’s everything you need for the client presentation. I’ll explain the details quickly.”
She nodded, absorbing the instructions carefully. “Okay. I’ll prepare it and ensure everything is ready.”
Alone at her desk, Poornima spread out the materials. Her fingers traced over charts, graphs, and notes. She organized her thoughts, rehearsing the flow of the presentation in her mind. By the time the client arrived, she was composed, confident, and ready.
The conference room buzzed with polite greetings. As she began explaining the project, her voice was calm, clear, and authoritative. She described each aspect of the project in detail—the objectives, timelines, challenges, and solutions. Every chart, every figure, she articulated with clarity that impressed not just the clients, but everyone in the room.
Veeresh sat quietly at the back, observing her. He never doubted her capability—not once. There was a steady calm in his gaze, one that spoke of trust and pride without words.
The client leaned forward, asking detailed questions about the feasibility, deliverables, and budget. Poornima answered each one thoughtfully, maintaining her composure. She anticipated concerns before they arose, explaining solutions with clarity and confidence.
Finally, the client leaned back, a satisfied smile crossing their face. “Everything seems perfect. We’re happy to proceed.”
Poornima exhaled softly, relief washing over her. As the contract was signed and hands shaken, she noticed Veeresh’s eyes on her. There was no need for words; she understood his silence—an unspoken acknowledgment of her competence, his pride shining quietly through.
He left the conference room shortly after, giving her a brief, approving nod. Poornima’s lips curved into a small, triumphant smile.
She gathered her things and returned to her cabin, a mixture of pride and excitement swelling in her chest. This was her space now, her work, her independence—and Veeresh’s quiet support made it all the more meaningful.
