Chapter 30: The Way They Chose Each Other
That night was quieter.
Not in silence… but in the way everything between them had already been said without words.
Poornima was in his arms again.
Close.
Held the way only he held her—firm, certain, leaving no space for doubt.
He pulled her into him, his touch intense, his presence overwhelming in a way that didn’t scare her anymore.
It grounded her.
Her fingers held onto him as she whispered his name, soft, breathless, not out of hesitation… but out of feeling.
Every time she said “Veer”…
Something in him responded.
Not loudly.
But deeply.
There was a rawness in the way he loved her.
Unpolished.
Unfiltered.
A little harsh at times.
But never careless.
Never without meaning.
And she felt it.
Every bit of it.
Not as pain.
But as something she chose.
Because she trusted him.
Because she knew him.
Because with him… she was safe.
His lips found hers again, deep, consuming, not asking, not holding back.
And when her eyes filled slightly, overwhelmed by everything she was feeling—
He noticed.
He always did.
He slowed.
His hand came up, wiping her tears gently.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice lower now.
She shook her head immediately, her arms wrapping around him, pulling herself closer.
A soft smile touched her lips.
She wasn’t hurt.
She was his.
He looked at her for a moment.
Then asked quietly, “Whom do you belong to?”
There was no hesitation.
No second thought.
“You, Veer.”
The words came from somewhere deep.
Certain.
Complete.
He kissed her again.
Not rushed.
Not rough.
Just… sure.
Then he pulled the blanket over both of them, bringing her fully into his arms.
Holding her close.
Like he wasn’t letting go.
Like he never would.
Her head rested against him, her breathing slowly calming, her fingers still lightly holding onto him.
And in that closeness—
They fell asleep.
Not just beside each other.
But with a bond that had gone deeper than words.
She had surrendered to him…
Not because she had to.
But because she wanted to.
And he loved her…
In the only way he knew how.
