Chapter 23: When She Fell, He Held

The moment her body gave in, Veeresh moved instantly.

“Noor!”

He caught her before she could hit the ground, his arms tightening around her, pulling her close, his heartbeat rising in panic.

“Poornima… Noor… open your eyes,” he called, his voice no longer calm.

No response.

He lifted her without a second thought and laid her gently on the bed, his hands slightly trembling as he reached for his phone.

“Doctor… please come immediately,” he said, his tone firm but urgent. “She fainted… yes… I’ll send the address.”

He cut the call and came back to her side instantly.

“Noor…” he whispered, brushing her hair away from her face, his hand resting against her cheek.

He wasn’t used to this.

He didn’t like this.

Seeing her like this.

Still.

Silent.

His grip tightened slightly around her hand.

“I’m here,” he murmured, more to himself than to her.

Minutes felt longer than they should.

He didn’t leave her side.

Not even for a second.

When the doctor arrived, Veeresh stepped back slightly but his eyes never left her.

“What happened?” the doctor asked, checking her pulse.

“She saw someone… and then…” Veeresh paused, controlling himself. “…she fainted.”

The doctor nodded calmly after examining her.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “Her trauma got triggered.”

Veeresh’s jaw tightened slightly.

“She’ll be fine,” the doctor continued. “Just let her rest… and make sure she doesn’t face that trigger again for some time.”

Veeresh nodded slowly.

“Okay.”

After the doctor left, the room fell silent again.

Veeresh walked back to her and sat beside her, his hand immediately finding hers again.

He didn’t say anything this time.

He just stayed.

Watching her.

Waiting.

Because right now…

That was all that mattered.
