Chapter 50: A Promise to Hold On

The night stayed with them even after the words were spoken.

Veeresh sat beside Poornima, still holding her hand, still trying to take in everything she had just given him.

After a moment, he looked at her.

“Just give me some time,” he said quietly. “I will solve everything.”

Poornima did not hesitate.

“Veer, it is okay,” she said softly. “Do not worry. I will not leave you, gadha. I promise.”

Veeresh let out a breath he did not realize he was holding.

“I know,” he said. “I just got scared.”

Poornima smiled gently.

And in that moment, sitting beside him, with Aryan and Mannat playing near them, and a new life growing within her, Veeresh felt something he had never felt before.

Complete.

Not because everything was perfect.

But because they were together.

They spent some more time in the park, talking, sitting close, letting the silence comfort them instead of break them.

Later, Veeresh dropped them home.

Before leaving, he looked at her again.

A silent promise passed between them.

Then he went back to the mansion.

The moment he entered, his parents noticed something had changed.

“Veer?” Yashoda asked.

He did not hide it.

“Poornima is pregnant,” he said.

For a second, there was silence.

Then happiness filled the room.

“Bring her back,” Yashoda said immediately, her eyes lighting up.

“I will, Mom,” Veeresh replied.

On the other side, when Syed and Ayesha heard the news, their faces lit up with joy.

A new life.

A new beginning.

Without waiting, Rajeev and Yashoda went to Poornima’s house.

The door opened.

Poornima stood there.

Yashoda walked in first and placed her hand on Poornima’s head, blessing her.

Rajeev followed, his eyes filled with warmth.

“We are sorry,” Yashoda said, her voice soft.

Poornima shook her head immediately.

“No, Ammi… please do not,” she said.

Rajeev turned to Syed.

“I am sorry,” he said sincerely.

Syed raised his hand.

“Stop apologizing,” he said calmly.

Ayesha stepped forward and held Poornima’s hand.

“Do not blame yourself for anything,” she said gently.

Yashoda’s eyes filled slightly.

“We thought she was dead,” she said. “That is what the doctor told us. We did not know…”

Syed nodded.

“I understand,” he said. “Do not worry. Everything will be sorted.”

There was no anger in the room.

No accusations.

Only people trying to hold together what mattered.

Poornima looked around.

At all of them.

At the families that had come together for her.

For them.

And she realized something quietly.

This was not just her fight.

It was theirs.

All of theirs.

And together,

They would find a way

To make things right.
