Chapter 41 The Trust That Didn’t Break
The morning had just begun to settle into its usual rhythm when the calm was disturbed.
Poornima walked into the living room after getting ready, only to stop at the sight in front of her.
Her parents were there.
Their expressions were not warm.
Not calm.
Something was wrong.
“Appa…?” she said softly.
Her father didn’t waste time.
“Pack your things. You are coming with us.”
The words were direct.
Final.
The entire room stilled.
Mr Qureshi stepped forward immediately.
“Why?” he asked, his tone controlled but firm.
Poornima’s father looked at him.
“Because we are ending this marriage.”
Silence fell like a weight.
“What?” Mrs Qureshi said, shocked.
“We found out that Veeresh is cheating,” her father continued, holding up his phone. “We have proof.”
For a second, no one moved.
No one spoke.
The accusation hung heavy in the air.
Mrs Qureshi shook her head instantly. “That is wrong information.”
But the damage was already done.
Veeresh stood there, his expression unreadable.
He looked at the phone once.
Then at no one in particular.
Without saying a word…
He turned and walked away.
That silence hurt more than any argument.
“Veeresh—” Mrs Qureshi called, but he didn’t stop.
Poornima didn’t hesitate.
She followed him.
Quickly.
He walked into the room, his steps steady but his shoulders slightly tense.
Before he could move further, Poornima wrapped her arms around him from behind.
A back hug.
Firm.
Certain.
“I don’t believe that,” she said immediately.
Her voice was steady.
Clear.
“I trust you.”
Veeresh closed his eyes for a brief second.
But he didn’t turn.
“Don’t think nonsense, Mr Qureshi,” she added softly.
Then she gently pulled him, making him turn toward her.
“Look at me,” she said.
He hesitated.
But he did.
His eyes met hers.
“Why are you worried,” she asked, “when I am not?”
There was no doubt in her gaze.
No fear.
“Just chill, Mr Qureshi.”
Before he could respond, she leaned forward and placed a soft peck on his lips.
“I believe you,” she said quietly.
“And I know you won’t.”
Her words were not defensive.
They were certain.
Unshakeable.
“So relax.”
Veeresh looked at her, something shifting in his expression.
“Really?” he asked, his voice lower now.
Poornima nodded immediately.
“I am telling the truth.”
She held his shirt lightly, pulling him a little closer.
“Listen,” she said, her tone firm now, leaving no room for doubt.
“You are mine.”
Her eyes locked with his.
“And I am yours.”
The words settled deep.
Clear.
Possessive.
But full of trust.
For a moment, Veeresh just looked at her.
Then slowly…
He smiled.
Not wide.
But enough.
He pulled her into a tight embrace.
This time, it was different.
Not out of pain.
But out of relief.
Poornima wrapped her arms around him instantly.
She could feel it.
The tension leaving him.
The weight easing.
He relaxed in her hold.
And she smiled.
Because in a moment that could have broken everything…
She had chosen him.
Without question.
Without hesitation.
And that…
Made all the difference.
