Chapter 14 — Back To Reality

Poornima walked out of the room wearing Veeresh’s black shirt and trousers, the sleeves folded carelessly around her wrists. The expensive fabric carried his scent, something she noticed immediately but chose to ignore.

Veeresh leaned against the counter silently, watching her.

She picked up her heels before looking at him casually. “I’ll return these after dry cleaning.”

A faint smirk appeared on his face. “Keep them.”

Poornima shook her head lightly. “No. I don’t like debts.”

Then her expression turned serious.

“This stays between us.”

Veeresh’s gaze remained fixed on her for a moment before he nodded once. “Sure. It will.”

Silence settled briefly between them again.

But then Veeresh’s eyes moved toward the faint marks near her neck and collarbone — marks he had left on her skin last night.

His jaw tightened slightly.

“How are you planning to hide those?”

Poornima glanced down once before shrugging calmly. “I’ll take care of it.”

Veeresh walked closer slowly, his expression unreadable now.

“Poornima,” he said quietly, “do what you want.”

There was something strange in his tone.

Almost like warning.

Almost like possessiveness.

Poornima noticed it immediately, and a small smile curved onto her lips.

“No,” she replied softly.

The answer confused him slightly before she stepped backward toward the door.

Because what she meant was simple—

She would not do what he wanted.

Not when it came to forgetting him.

Not after last night.

Poornima gave him one last look before leaving the penthouse without another word.

The door closed.

And for the first time in years, Veeresh Dreewan stood in complete silence inside his own home, staring at the empty space she had left behind.

Dangerous feeling.

Because Salvatore suddenly realized the problem wasn’t that he had touched his rival.

The problem was—

He had let her walk away.
