Chapter 27 — Stay With Her

Nearly an hour later, the emergency room doors finally opened.

Veeresh stood instantly.

The doctor removed his gloves while speaking calmly. “There’s nothing life-threatening, Mr. Dreewan.”

Only then did Veeresh’s shoulders loosen slightly.

“She fainted due to extreme stress and panic,” the doctor continued. “Looks like she remembered something traumatic, which triggered her condition severely.”

Veeresh’s eyes darkened.

Remembered something.

The doctor glanced briefly at the marks on the medical report. “We treated the injuries on her face as well.”

Injuries.

Such a professional word for handprints left by her own father.

Veeresh’s jaw clenched tightly.

“She’ll wake up soon,” the doctor added gently. “But right now, she shouldn’t be left alone.” He looked at Veeresh carefully. “Stay with her.”

“I will.”

The answer came instantly.

The doctor nodded once before leaving.

Veeresh entered the private hospital room slowly.

Poornima lay peacefully against the white sheets, an IV attached to her hand. The redness on her face had been treated, but faint marks still remained visible beneath the soft hospital lights.

His chest tightened unexpectedly at the sight.

Salvatore Dreewan had seen violence his entire life.

He had caused it.

Ordered it.

Survived it.

But seeing those marks on her felt unbearable.

Veeresh pulled a chair beside the bed and sat down silently. His gaze never left her face as he leaned back slightly, waiting for her to wake up.

And in that silence, he understood something dangerous.

He knew exactly who had done this.

Her father.

The thought alone made Veeresh’s eyes turn terrifyingly cold.

Because Salvatore Dreewan could tolerate insults.

Could tolerate rivalry.

But touching Poornima?

That was becoming unforgivable.
