Chapter 47 — Don’t Talk to Me
That evening, the Dreewan mansion was filled with guests.
Mr. Dreewan had hosted a private celebration gathering—business associates, family friends, and a few political names moving through the grand hall under warm golden lights and soft music.
To everyone watching, it looked like a perfect newly married couple’s world.
Veeresh stood near the bar counter, dressed sharply in black, speaking casually with a few guests. His expression was controlled as always, unreadable, calm.
But his eyes kept drifting toward one person.
Poornima.
She was seated with Mrs. Dreewan for a while, smiling politely, engaging when needed—but still distant in her own quiet way. She looked composed tonight, more stable than earlier in the day.
Veeresh noticed that too.
Which is why he didn’t expect her to suddenly walk past him without even looking in his direction.
He frowned slightly.
“Poornima.”
She didn’t stop.
He turned fully now. “Poornima.”
Still no response.
That irritated him.
He stepped closer and gently caught her wrist. “What are you doing?”
She finally looked at him.
Calm.
Unbothered.
And slightly annoyed.
“I’m walking,” she said simply.
Veeresh narrowed his eyes. “You’re ignoring me.”
Poornima tilted her head. “Am I supposed to worship you?”
That hit just the right nerve.
A small pause.
Veeresh’s tone dropped instantly. “Don’t talk to me.”
Silence.
Poornima stared at him for a second… then scoffed softly.
“Good,” she said casually, pulling her wrist away. “I’m not dying to talk to you anyway.”
And just like that—
She walked away.
Veeresh stood still for a moment, watching her disappear into the crowd without looking back.
Around him, people continued laughing and talking, completely unaware of the small tension that had just passed between them.
But Veeresh wasn’t focused on the guests anymore.
His jaw tightened slightly as he watched her.
Because for the first time…
Poornima wasn’t reacting to him at all.
She was ignoring him on purpose.
And somehow, that bothered him more than her anger ever did.
