Chapter 62 — She Is Mine Now
Veeresh stood still for a moment after his last words, the silence between them thick and suffocating.
Then he looked directly at Mr. Rathore.
“She is not Poornima Rathore anymore,” Veeresh said coldly.
A pause.
“She is Poornima Salvatore Dreewan.”
His eyes darkened slightly.
“My wife.”
The words weren’t spoken like a claim for pride.
They were spoken like a final boundary.
A line that couldn’t be crossed again.
“I will take her back,” Veeresh added firmly. “And no one—no matter who they are—will stand in my way.”
Mr. Rathore slowly straightened, wiping his mouth again, his expression tightening with stubborn anger rather than fear.
A faint, bitter smile appeared on his face.
“Let’s see,” he said quietly.
A pause.
“How.”
Veeresh didn’t react immediately.
He simply stared at him for a long moment.
Then he stepped closer, voice lower but sharper.
“You already tried breaking her.”
Another pause.
“And she is still standing.”
His jaw tightened.
“Now try watching what happens when I stop letting you touch her life at all.”
Mr. Rathore narrowed his eyes.
“You think she will choose you after all this?”
Veeresh’s expression didn’t change.
“She already did,” he said simply.
A silence followed.
Heavy.
Uncomfortable.
Veeresh turned slightly, adjusting his cuff calmly now, as if the conversation had already ended for him.
But before walking away, he added one last line without looking back:
“She doesn’t need to remember everything today…”
A pause.
“She just needs to be safe long enough to remember who she is.”
Then he walked away.
Leaving Mr. Rathore standing there—angry, shaken, and for the first time unsure whether control over his daughter was truly slipping away.
