Chapter 65 — Don’t Forget Me
Poornima stood there shaking, her breath uneven, eyes full of anger that was slowly turning into exhaustion.
Her voice came out firm, but broken underneath.
“Now leave from here.”
A pause.
“And never show me your face again.”
Her fingers trembled slightly as she stepped back.
“We are done.”
Veeresh didn’t move at first.
He just looked at her, as if trying to understand how everything had collapsed so fast.
“I sent you the divorce papers,” she added quietly. “I signed them.”
That finally made something in him shift.
Veeresh moved forward instantly and caught her wrist.
“Poornima—please listen to me once,” he said urgently. “After that… you can decide whatever you want.”
She looked at him, eyes cold but tired.
“Tell me.”
That single word gave him hope for a second.
Veeresh exhaled, voice lower now, stripped of control.
“Yes,” he admitted.
A pause.
“I did use you, Poornima.”
Her expression tightened immediately.
“But not after I found out the truth.”
He stepped closer slightly, not forcing her now—just trying to be heard.
“I was angry. I was lost in revenge. I didn’t know you then.”
His jaw clenched.
“But then I saw you… and everything changed.”
Silence.
Veeresh’s voice softened, almost breaking.
“I didn’t plan feelings. I didn’t plan any of this.”
A pause.
“But I started feeling them anyway.”
Poornima’s eyes flickered for a second.
Veeresh looked at her, desperate now.
“Please… don’t do this.”
But her breathing had already changed again.
Faster.
Uneven.
Fear mixing with emotion.
“I am forgetting everything,” she whispered suddenly, almost panicked. “I will forget you also…”
Her hands trembled.
“So just leave me.”
Before he could stop her again, she pulled away and ran.
“Poornima!” Veeresh took a step forward, but stopped himself.
Because he saw it.
She wasn’t just angry.
She was spiraling.
Sanjay immediately ran after her, calling her name.
And Veeresh stood there alone in the restaurant.
Surrounded by silence.
People watching.
Noise fading.
But inside him—
everything had broken.
Not because she left.
But because she believed she had to forget him to survive.
