Chapter 68 — I Won’t Let Go

Veeresh stayed on the balcony long after the smoke had faded from his fingers.

The night was quiet, but his mind wasn’t.

“She has feelings for you,” he told himself under his breath, as if repeating it would anchor him back to reality.

Then his phone rang.

Sanjay.

Veeresh picked up immediately. “Speak.”

“Sir…” Sanjay’s voice was careful, slightly anxious. “I dropped her back at the Rathore mansion. She is safe now.”

A pause.

“And… sir, please don’t feel bad for what she said earlier.”

Veeresh didn’t respond.

Sanjay continued quickly.

“She is forgetting everything. It’s not her fault. She is scared, confused… she doesn’t understand what’s real anymore.”

Silence.

Then Sanjay added, softer now,

“She told me… she felt safe with you.”

That line made Veeresh’s expression tighten slightly.

Sanjay didn’t stop.

“Please don’t leave her, sir.”

A pause.

“She is breaking without even realizing it.”

Veeresh closed his eyes briefly, exhaling slowly.

Sanjay’s voice lowered.

“She keeps forgetting things… but she still remembers feelings. Even if she can’t explain them.”

A beat.

“And she trusts you… even now.”

Silence stretched again.

Then Veeresh finally spoke, voice low and firm.

“I won’t leave her.”

A pause.

“She is only mine.”

There was no possessiveness in his tone the way it might have sounded before.

It was something deeper now.

Decided.

Certain.

Even protective.

Veeresh continued, eyes fixed into the night.

“And even if she forgets everything…”

His jaw tightened slightly.

“I will restart everything.”

Sanjay stayed silent for a moment.

Then quietly said, “Thank you, sir.”

The call ended.

Veeresh lowered his phone slowly.

And for the first time that night, his thoughts were no longer scattered.

They were focused on one thing—

not forcing her to remember…

but becoming the reason she would feel safe enough to remember again.
