Chapter 66: Peace Found at Last
After Aryan left for school, the haveli became quiet again.
The laughter, arguments about frogs, and endless questions disappeared for a few hours.
Veeresh stood watching the gate for a moment before turning toward Poornima.
"Poons."
The way he said her name immediately made her suspicious.
She looked at him and smiled.
"Thakur ji, behave."
Veeresh raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"You have grandchildren."
"So what?"
Poornima shook her head, trying not to laugh.
Years had passed, but some things about Veeresh Thakur never changed.
His affection.
His possessiveness.
The way his eyes softened whenever he looked at her.
Those things remained exactly the same.
Before she could say anything else, Veeresh gently lifted her into his arms.
"Thakur ji!"
"What?"
"Put me down."
"No."
Poornima laughed despite herself.
"You are impossible."
"And you still love me."
The answer came instantly.
Just as it always did.
He carried her upstairs while she continued pretending to complain.
The truth was that her heart still fluttered every time he looked at her that way.
Not because of grand gestures.
But because after all these years, he still chose her.
Every day.
Every single day.
When they entered their room, Veeresh carefully set her down.
For a few moments neither spoke.
The room was peaceful.
Filled with the comfortable silence that comes only when two people know each other completely.
Then Veeresh reached for her hand.
"Poons."
"Hmm?"
"Do you trust me?"
Poornima looked at him.
There wasn't even a second of hesitation.
"Always."
The answer touched something deep inside him.
Always.
Not sometimes.
Not when things were easy.
Always.
Through misunderstandings.
Through pain.
Through fear.
Through happiness.
Through every season of life.
Always.
Veeresh gently kissed her forehead.
His eyes never leaving hers.
For him, trust had always meant more than words.
And Poornima had given him that trust completely.
He slowly removed her saree and she gave him full consent and her saree was gone and her blouse and she looked completely naked in front of him , Veeresh clothes were gone ,he kissed her and he entered inside her and he said i will show you stars today and she said Thakur ji ,she moaned and he thrust faster and came deep inside her and he kissed her and he said i love you poons and she said love you too.
As the hours passed, they remained together, sharing the closeness and comfort that had become the foundation of their marriage.
Not just love.
Understanding.
Respect.
Friendship.
The quiet certainty that no matter what happened, they would face it together.
Their bond had grown stronger with every challenge.
Every heartbreak.
Every victory.
Every ordinary day spent side by side.
Later, as the afternoon sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, Poornima drifted into sleep beside him.
Peacefully.
Comfortably.
Her head resting against him.
Veeresh looked down at her.
And smiled.
The years seemed to disappear.
For a moment he didn't see only his wife.
He saw the quiet girl from school.
The girl who sat in libraries reading books.
The girl with the gentle smile that had captured his heart when he was just a boy.
His childhood love.
His first love.
His last love.
Life had taken them on different paths.
Years apart.
Different cities.
Different struggles.
Different families.
Yet somehow destiny had brought them back to each other.
And now she was here.
Sleeping peacefully in his arms.
Trusting him completely.
Veeresh brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
His eyes softened.
There was a time when he thought happiness was responsibility.
Success.
Respect.
Achievements.
But now he understood something different.
Real happiness was much simpler.
It was coming home and hearing her voice.
It was watching Aryan run through the haveli.
It was listening to Poornima laugh.
It was holding her hand during evening prayers.
It was knowing that someone waited for him.
Loved him.
Understood him.
The feeling settled warmly in his chest.
A feeling of contentment.
Of gratitude.
Of peace.
For the first time in his life, Veeresh felt like a man who had reached the destination he never knew he was searching for.
Not power.
Not success.
Not recognition.
Peace.
And as he held Poornima close, watching her sleep with a faint smile on her face, Veeresh silently thanked God.
For giving him a second chance.
For bringing Poornima back into his life.
And for allowing him to spend the rest of his days beside the woman who had become his greatest happiness.
