Chapter 19 – They Already Know You

Veeresh wiped his eyes and looked at Poornima.

His voice was softer now.

Veeresh: "Poons..."

She looked at him.

Veeresh: "Adwait and Thoshini love you so much."

She looked at him in surprise.

Poornima: "Me?"

He nodded with a small smile.

Veeresh: "Yes."

He sat beside her.

Veeresh: "They were just babies when Siya died."

He paused before continuing.

Veeresh: "I told them about you."

Poornima listened quietly.

Veeresh: "I told them that you are their mother."

Tears welled up in her eyes.

Veeresh: "They grew up hearing about you."

He smiled faintly.

Veeresh: "Every birthday... every school function... every achievement... they would ask, 'When will Mom come?'"

Poornima covered her mouth, trying to stop herself from crying.

Veeresh: "I never had the courage to tell them anything else."

He looked at her with hopeful eyes.

Veeresh: "They already love you, Poons."

A tear rolled down Poornima's cheek.

She whispered,

Poornima: "I... never even got to hold them."

Veeresh gently held her hand.

Veeresh: "You'll get your chance."

He smiled warmly.

Veeresh: "They're coming to India next week."

Poornima looked at him.

Veeresh: "And I know... they'll be the happiest people in the world when they finally meet the mother they've loved all their lives."
