Chapter 20 – A New Beginning

The room was quiet.

After everything they had learned, neither of them knew what to say next.

Veeresh looked at Poornima with a small smile.

Veeresh: "May I?"

She looked at him, tears still in her eyes, and despite everything, a faint smile appeared.

Poornima: "You're still an asshole."

Veeresh laughed softly.

In one gentle movement, he pulled her closer.

He cupped her face and kissed her tenderly.

For a moment, Poornima froze.

Then she closed her eyes and kissed him back.

It wasn't a kiss of passion.

It was a kiss filled with forgiveness, longing, and fifteen years of love that had never truly disappeared.

When they finally pulled apart, they rested their foreheads against each other.

Veeresh smiled.

Veeresh: "I missed you, Poons."

Poornima: "I missed you too, Veer."

After a few moments, Veeresh picked up his phone.

Veeresh: "Come here. I want to show you something."

Poornima sat beside him.

He opened his photo gallery.

The first picture was of Aradhya graduating.

The next was Rudra playing cricket.

Then came photos of Adwait and Thoshini as toddlers, covered in cake on their birthday.

There were school pictures...

Family vacations...

Festival celebrations...

Adwait proudly holding a trophy.

Thoshini smiling with a painting she had won first prize for.

Veeresh scrolled through hundreds of photos.

Veeresh: "This was Adwait's first day at school."

He smiled.

Veeresh: "And this... Thoshini insisted on wearing two different shoes because she said they looked lucky."

Poornima laughed through her tears.

She kept looking at every photograph with a smile.

Her fingers gently touched the screen as if she were meeting the children she had unknowingly loved from afar.

Poornima: "They've grown up so beautifully."

Veeresh nodded.

Veeresh: "They've been waiting to meet you for a long time."

Poornima continued scrolling through the photos of Adwait, Thoshini, Rudra, and Aradhya, smiling at every memory she had missed, silently hoping she could now become part of the memories still waiting to be made.
