Chapter 45 – Just Rest

By the time they returned home, the wedding preparations were in full swing again.

The house was buzzing with relatives, decorations, and laughter.

As soon as they entered, Ritika looked at them.

Ritika: "Where did you both go?"

Before Poornima could answer, Veeresh smiled casually.

Veeresh: "We went to meet a friend."

Everyone nodded and continued with the preparations.

Veeresh glanced at Poornima.

She looked tired after the morning's emotions and the hospital visit.

He spoke gently.

Veeresh: "Poornima is tired."

Looking at the family, he added,

Veeresh: "Let her rest for a while."

Ritika: "Yes, beta. Go and rest."

Poornima gave a small smile and quietly walked upstairs.

She entered their room, closed the door softly, and lay down on the bed.

She closed her eyes, exhausted more emotionally than physically.

A few moments later, Veeresh came into the room.

He sat beside her.

She opened her eyes slightly.

He gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

Veeresh: "I'm here."

His voice was calm and reassuring.

Veeresh: "Just rest."

Poornima looked at him and, despite everything, smiled.

Poornima: "Asshole, you're..."

Veeresh chuckled.

Veeresh: "I know."

He smiled warmly at her.

Veeresh: "This asshole loves his wife."

Poornima shook her head with a small laugh.

He gently adjusted the blanket over her.

Then, with tenderness, he carefully lifted the edge of her pallu just enough to place a soft kiss on her belly.

Resting his hand there for a brief moment, he whispered with a smile,

Veeresh: "Take care of your mum, little one. She worries too much."

Poornima watched him quietly, her eyes filling with emotion once again.

He looked back at her and smiled.

Veeresh: "Now... no more thinking."

He held her hand gently.

Veeresh: "Sleep."

Poornima nodded.

She intertwined her fingers with his and slowly drifted to sleep, comforted by the quiet certainty that, whatever lay ahead, Veeresh would be beside her every step of the way.
