Chapter 50 – A Journey of Love

The days after Aradhya's wedding settled into a peaceful routine.

Poornima officially took maternity leave from work, while Veeresh stayed true to his promise of retiring and remaining by her side.

From the very first day, he became extremely protective.

Every morning, before she even woke up, he would prepare warm water and keep her prescribed medicines ready.

If she forgot even one tablet...

Veeresh: "Poons... medicine first."

She would smile.

Poornima: "I was just going to take it."

Veeresh: "No excuses."

He would stand there until she swallowed it.

During the first few months, Poornima often felt tired and nauseous.

Some mornings she didn't feel like eating at all.

Veeresh would patiently sit beside her.

Veeresh: "Just two more bites."

She would make a face.

Poornima: "No."

He would grin.

Veeresh: "For our little one."

She would sigh dramatically.

Poornima: "You're emotionally blackmailing me."

Veeresh: "Yes."

She would laugh and finally eat.

Every month they went for their regular hospital check-ups.

Each time the doctor smiled after examining her.

Doctor: "Everything is progressing well."

Veeresh would always ask the same question.

Veeresh: "Poons and the baby are both okay?"

The doctor would smile.

Doctor: "Yes."

Only then would Veeresh relax.

At home, everyone looked after her.

Ritika prepared nutritious meals.

Rajendra constantly reminded her to rest.

Aradhya called every day after her wedding.

Aradhya: "Mom, did you eat?"

Poornima laughed.

Poornima: "Now everyone has become my parent."

Richard would smile from beside Aradhya.

Richard: "That's because everyone loves you."

Rudra visited often.

Every time he entered the house, he would kneel beside Poornima.

Rudra: "Hello, little sibling."

Veeresh would immediately interrupt.

Veeresh: "Don't teach the baby your naughty habits."

Rudra laughed.

Adwait and Thoshini were equally excited.

They decorated a small room for the baby together.

Choosing tiny clothes, blankets, toys, and storybooks became their favorite pastime.

Thoshini: "Dad, this teddy is cute."

Veeresh: "Buy it."

Adwait: "Dad, we already have ten."

Veeresh: "Then we'll buy eleven."

Everyone laughed.

As Poornima's baby bump slowly became visible, Veeresh's protectiveness only increased.

He refused to let her carry anything.

If she tried lifting even a light bag...

Veeresh: "Leave it."

Poornima: "Veer, it's just a bag."

Veeresh: "No."

She would smile.

Poornima: "You're impossible."

Every night before sleeping, Veeresh would sit beside her.

He would gently place his hand on her belly.

Sometimes he would talk to the baby.

Veeresh: "Listen carefully."

Poornima smiled.

Veeresh: "Don't trouble your mum."

He looked at Poornima.

Veeresh: "She worries too much."

Poornima laughed softly.

As the months passed, the fear that had once filled Poornima's heart slowly disappeared.

In its place came quiet excitement.

She found herself smiling while folding tiny baby clothes.

She caught herself wondering whose eyes the baby would have.

One evening, she looked at Veeresh.

Poornima: "I think..."

He looked up from the baby cot he was assembling.

Veeresh: "Hmm?"

She smiled gently.

Poornima: "I'm ready now."

He walked over to her.

Veeresh: "Really?"

She nodded.

Looking down at her growing baby bump, she placed both hands over it.

Poornima: "I was scared in the beginning."

She looked at Veeresh.

Poornima: "But now... I can't wait to meet our little one."

Veeresh's eyes filled with happiness.

He kissed her forehead.

Veeresh: "I knew you would."

He then knelt beside her and gently kissed her baby bump.

Veeresh: "We're waiting for you, little one."

Poornima smiled, resting her hand on his shoulder.

Their journey had begun with surprise and uncertainty, but month by month, it had become a journey filled with love, patience, family, and the quiet joy of waiting to welcome a new life.
