Chapter 54 – Football Team?
Later that night, after everyone had finally stopped teasing Veeresh, the two of them were alone in their bedroom.
Poornima was sitting on the bed, arranging the scan reports in a file.
Veeresh walked in carrying two glasses of warm milk.
He handed one to her.
She smiled.
Poornima: "Thank you."
He sat beside her, unable to stop smiling.
She noticed.
Poornima: "Why are you smiling like that?"
Veeresh leaned back against the headboard.
A mischievous grin spread across his face.
Veeresh: "Poons..."
She looked at him suspiciously.
Poornima: "What now?"
He moved a little closer.
Veeresh: "Let's make a football team."
Poornima froze.
Slowly, she turned towards him.
She blinked twice.
Then she picked up the nearest pillow and hit him.
Poornima: "VEERESH!"
He burst into laughter.
Veeresh: "Ow! That hurts."
Poornima: "Good!"
She hit him again.
Poornima: "Football team?"
She pointed at herself dramatically.
Poornima: "I'm already carrying triplets!"
She started counting loudly.
Poornima: "Aradhya..."
"Rudra..."
"Adwait..."
"Thoshini..."
She placed both hands on her baby bump.
Poornima: "And now these three."
She looked straight at him.
Poornima: "That makes seven children!"
She folded her arms.
Poornima: "Do you know how many players are there in a football team?"
Veeresh nodded innocently.
Veeresh: "Eleven."
Poornima's eyes widened.
She threw another pillow at him.
Poornima: "Asshole!"
He laughed so hard that tears formed in his eyes.
Poornima: "Pervert!"
She couldn't stop laughing and scolding him at the same time.
Poornima: "Forty-year-old man!"
Poornima: "You're impossible."
Veeresh held up both hands dramatically.
Veeresh: "I was only joking."
She narrowed her eyes.
Poornima: "Liar."
He smiled sheepishly.
Veeresh: "Maybe... a little."
She pointed a finger at him.
Poornima: "You are not coming anywhere near me after these babies are born."
Veeresh gasped dramatically.
Veeresh: "That's a very harsh punishment."
She nodded firmly.
Poornima: "Exactly."
He moved closer and gently took her hand.
Veeresh: "Okay."
He smiled lovingly.
Veeresh: "Seven children are enough."
He looked at her baby bump with affection.
Veeresh: "Our house is already going to sound like a school."
Poornima finally laughed.
She rested her head on his shoulder.
Poornima: "You're lucky I love you."
Veeresh kissed the top of her head.
Veeresh: "I know."
Then he whispered with a grin,
Veeresh: "But... our football team would have been legendary."
Poornima immediately pinched his arm.
Poornima: "VEERESH!"
His laughter echoed through the room as she shook her head, smiling despite herself.
