Chapter 52: A Peaceful Night

The conversation slowly faded into silence.

The glasses on the balcony table were almost untouched now.

Poornima leaned back in her chair, exhausted—not because of the whiskey, but because she had finally spoken about the pain she had carried alone for years.

Within a few moments, her eyes closed.

She had fallen asleep.

Veeresh looked at her quietly.

A gentle smile appeared on his face.

Very carefully, he stood up.

He bent down and lifted her into his arms.

She stirred slightly in her sleep but didn't wake up.

He carried her inside the bedroom and gently laid her on the bed.

He pulled the blanket over her.

For a few seconds, he simply sat beside her, looking at her peaceful face.

He spoke softly, knowing she couldn't hear him.

Veeresh: "I hope you find some peace now... by sharing what you've been carrying for so long."

He gently brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face.

Then, with quiet affection, he kissed her forehead.

Veeresh: "Good night, Poornima."

He switched off the bedside lamp and lay down beside her.

Without disturbing her, he gently pulled the blanket around both of them and held her close in a protective embrace.

Poornima, still asleep, instinctively relaxed into the warmth.

For the first time in a long while...

She slept without fear.

And beside her, Veeresh closed his eyes with a silent prayer—that every tomorrow would help heal yesterday's wounds, one day at a time.
