Chapter 58: Protecting Her Peace

It was late at night.

After spending some time with the family, Poornima returned to the bedroom.

She changed out of her saree into a comfortable nightdress and quietly lay down on the bed.

Within minutes, she had fallen asleep.

The day at the fair, cooking for the family, and spending time with everyone had left her pleasantly tired.

A little later, Veeresh entered the room after finishing some work in his study.

He loosened his watch, placed his files on the table, and was about to switch off the lights.

Just then...

Poornima's phone, lying on the bedside table, lit up.

A notification appeared.

Then another.

And another.

The constant vibration caught his attention.

He glanced at Poornima.

She was sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of the messages.

Not wanting the sound to wake her, Veeresh picked up the phone to silence it.

The screen displayed a series of messages from Shamir.

Veeresh's expression turned serious.

He didn't open the conversation.

He simply looked at the repeated notifications.

He glanced back at Poornima, remembering everything she had shared the previous night—her fear, her unanswered questions, and the pain she had carried for years.

He quietly opened the contact options.

Without waking her...

He blocked the number.

Then he deleted the conversation from her phone so the repeated notifications would stop disturbing her.

He placed the phone back exactly where it had been.

Walking back to the bed, he looked at her sleeping face.

She looked peaceful.

A gentle smile crossed his lips.

He softly kissed her forehead.

Veeresh (whispering): "Sleep peacefully."

He switched off the bedside lamp, lay down beside her, and gently pulled her into his arms.

Still asleep, Poornima instinctively rested against him.

Within moments, Veeresh closed his eyes as well.

The room fell silent once again.

Outside, the moonlight shone over the Rathore Palace.

Inside, for one more night, Veeresh silently chose to protect the peace that Poornima was slowly beginning to find.
