Chapter 59: Settling Into a New Life
The next morning, the sunlight gently filtered through the curtains.
Poornima slowly opened her eyes.
For a brief moment, she remained still.
She smiled to herself.
Once again, she had woken up in Veeresh's arms.
What had once felt unfamiliar had slowly become comforting.
She had become used to sleeping beside him.
And somewhere along the way...
She realized she had started liking him.
Not because he had asked her to.
Not because they were married.
But because, every day, he gave her another reason to feel safe.
Carefully, she moved out of his embrace so she wouldn't wake him.
She freshened up, draped a simple cotton saree, tied her hair into a neat braid, and went downstairs.
Soon, the kitchen was filled with the aroma of breakfast.
She prepared fresh idlis, coconut chutney, sambar, and hot filter coffee for the elders, while making milk for the younger children.
One by one, everyone gathered at the dining table.
Mahendra and Mahesh appreciated the breakfast.
Yash and Aarav finished their plates quickly before getting ready for school.
Ayat and Aarhan happily ate while chatting about the previous day's fair.
Veeresh looked at Poornima and smiled.
Veeresh: "Everything is good."
She smiled back.
After breakfast, the children picked up their school bags.
Ayat: "Bye, Ammi!"
Aarhan: "Bye, Abbu!"
Veeresh and Poornima smiled together.
Veeresh: "Study well."
Poornima: "And behave yourselves."
The children laughed before leaving for school with Yash and Aarav.
Soon, the palace became quieter.
A little later, Aadhya returned from spending a few days with her mother.
She looked tired after the journey.
As soon as she entered the house, Mahesh welcomed her with a hug.
Veeresh walked over to his daughter.
Veeresh: "Welcome back, princess."
Aadhya smiled sleepily.
Aadhya: "Hi, Dad."
Veeresh noticed the tiredness on her face.
Veeresh: "Do you want something to eat?"
Aadhya shook her head gently.
Aadhya: "After some time, Dad."
She yawned.
Aadhya: "I'm really sleepy."
Veeresh nodded with understanding.
Veeresh: "Alright."
He smiled.
Veeresh: "Go and get some rest."
Aadhya: "Okay."
She picked up her small bag, went upstairs to her room, and within minutes had fallen fast asleep.
Veeresh watched her leave before turning back toward the living room.
Life in the Rathore Palace was slowly settling into a rhythm.
Each day brought ordinary moments—shared meals, school mornings, tired children, and quiet conversations.
And it was in those ordinary moments that this newly formed family was gradually learning to become one.
