Chapter 65: Their First Eid Together

A few days later...

Mahendra's phone rang.

He looked at the caller ID and smiled.

Mahendra: "Haji!"

He answered immediately.

Mahendra: "Assalamu Alaikum, my friend."

Haji Kareem: "Wa Alaikum Assalam."

Both old friends exchanged a few pleasantries before Haji came to the point.

Haji Kareem: "Eid is coming."

Mahendra smiled.

Haji Kareem: "This year, I want all of you to come home."

Haji Kareem: "It's Poornima's first Eid after marriage, and it will also be Veeresh's first Eid with our family."

Haji Kareem: "You all have to come."

Mahendra laughed.

Mahendra: "We'll definitely be there."

After ending the call, he gathered everyone in the living room.

Mahendra: "Everyone, we're leaving for Bikaner tomorrow."

Ayat and Aarhan clapped happily.

Ayat: "We'll meet Abbu Jaan!"

Mahesh smiled.

Veeresh, however, looked thoughtful.

Veeresh: "Dadu..."

Everyone turned towards him.

Veeresh: "You all leave tomorrow."

Mahendra frowned.

Mahendra: "And you?"

Veeresh sighed.

Veeresh: "An overseas investor is visiting VR Industries tomorrow."

He looked apologetically at everyone.

Veeresh: "I have to be there."

Veeresh: "I can't skip the meeting."

Mahendra nodded understandingly.

Before anyone could say anything, Poornima quietly lowered her eyes.

Inside her heart, she wished...

"Just say it..."

"Say, 'Poons, come with me tomorrow.'"

She didn't know when she had started loving that nickname.

But she had.

Mahendra spoke,

Mahendra: "Alright."

He looked at Poornima.

Mahendra: "Then Mahesh, the children, and I will leave tomorrow."

He turned to Veeresh.

Mahendra: "Poornima can stay back and travel with you the next day."

Poornima secretly hoped he would agree.

Instead, Veeresh shook his head.

Veeresh: "No."

Everyone looked at him.

Veeresh: "Let her go with all of you."

He smiled towards Poornima.

Veeresh: "She'll get more time with her Abbu."

He added reassuringly,

Veeresh: "Don't worry."

Veeresh: "Once my meeting is over, I'll come straight to Bikaner."

Poornima forced a smile.

Inside, however, she pouted.

"Idiot..." she thought.

"One side I'm happy I'll meet Abbu..."

"But you're sending me away so easily."

"Asshole."

She hid her thoughts behind a calm expression.

Veeresh picked up his office bag.

Veeresh: "I'm leaving."

He smiled.

Veeresh: "Bye."

He walked towards the bedroom.

Poornima followed him.

They entered their room.

Veeresh opened the wardrobe.

Veeresh: "Poons..."

She looked at him.

Veeresh: "Pack my clothes with yours."

She blinked.

Poornima: "Mine?"

He nodded.

Veeresh: "Yes."

He smiled.

Veeresh: "I'll come directly from the meeting."

He looked at her fondly.

Veeresh: "I'm not missing our first Eid together."

A smile instantly appeared on her face.

Poornima: "Done."

She folded his clothes carefully.

Then she looked at him mischievously.

Poornima: "You know..."

Veeresh: "Hmm?"

Poornima: "On Eid..."

She folded her arms.

Poornima: "You have to give me a gift."

Veeresh laughed.

Veeresh: "Oh?"

Poornima: "It's compulsory."

He smiled.

Veeresh: "Okay."

Veeresh: "My Begum will get her Eid gift."

She smiled happily.

Veeresh picked up an important file and turned towards the door.

But as he took a step, his foot slipped slightly on the polished floor.

He immediately steadied himself.

Poornima: "Veer!"

She rushed towards him.

Holding his arm, she made him sit on the edge of the bed.

She quickly brought him a glass of water.

Poornima: "Drink."

Veeresh smiled and accepted it.

After drinking, he looked at her worried face.

Veeresh: "I'm fine."

She frowned.

Poornima: "Be careful."

He stood up.

With a gentle smile, he looked at her.

Veeresh: "Okay, Poons."

He picked up his file again.

Veeresh: "Bye."

Poornima nodded.

Poornima: "Take care."

He smiled one last time before leaving.

The room suddenly felt quieter.

Poornima stood near the door watching him walk away.

She was excited to see her Abbu.

But for the first time...

The thought of spending even one day away from Veeresh didn't feel good.

Without realizing it, he had become someone she looked forward to seeing at the end of every day.
