Chapter 73: A Home in Each Other

After everyone had gone to sleep, Veeresh and Poornima entered their room.

Veeresh placed his bag on the chair and stretched his shoulders.

Veeresh: "Finally..."

Poornima smiled.

Poornima: "Go and freshen up."

He nodded and went into the washroom.

A few minutes later, he came out wearing a comfortable white kurta-pyjama.

He opened his bag, took out his migraine tablet, and swallowed it with a glass of water.

Poornima watched him.

Poornima: "Good. At least you remembered to take it now."

Veeresh smiled sheepishly.

Veeresh: "Yes, madam."

She laughed softly.

He sat beside her on the bed.

Veeresh: "Now tell me..."

Veeresh: "What happened today?"

Poornima's face lit up.

She looked at him with shining eyes.

Poornima: "Veer..."

Veeresh: "Hmm?"

Poornima: "Today..."

She smiled emotionally.

Poornima: "...Yash and Aarav called me 'Mumma.'"

For a moment, Veeresh simply looked at her.

Then a proud smile spread across his face.

Veeresh: "Really?"

She nodded.

Tears of happiness welled in her eyes again.

Poornima: "Yes."

Poornima: "They said, 'Mumma.'"

Veeresh cupped her face gently.

Veeresh: "I'm so happy, Poons."

He leaned forward and kissed her forehead.

Then softly kissed her lips.

Poornima smiled and kissed him back.

They rested their foreheads together.

After a few moments, Veeresh spoke quietly.

Veeresh: "Thank you..."

She looked at him.

Poornima: "For what?"

He smiled warmly.

Veeresh: "For coming into my life."

His voice was filled with sincerity.

Veeresh: "Thank you for loving my children."

Veeresh: "Thank you for giving them a mother they could trust."

Poornima gently held his hand.

She smiled through her tears.

Poornima: "Veer..."

She shook her head softly.

Poornima: "I'm the one who should be grateful."

He looked at her with curiosity.

Poornima: "You accepted me."

She paused.

Poornima: "You accepted Ayat and Aarhan without making us feel like we were carrying a past."

Her fingers intertwined with his.

Poornima: "You gave me time."

Poornima: "You never forced me."

Poornima: "You let me heal at my own pace."

She smiled lovingly.

Poornima: "Thank you."

Veeresh gently wiped away the tear rolling down her cheek.

Veeresh: "No more thanking each other."

Poornima laughed softly.

Poornima: "Then what?"

He smiled.

Veeresh: "Just stay."

He took her hand and kissed it gently.

Veeresh: "That's enough."

Poornima rested her head on his shoulder.

Poornima: "Always."

The room fell silent.

Outside, the moon shone over the quiet streets of Bikaner.

Inside, two people who had once entered the marriage carrying pain, fear, and broken hearts had slowly found something they never expected.

Not just acceptance.

Not just companionship.

But a place where both of them finally felt at home.
