Chapter 79: The Doctor's Words
After what felt like an eternity, the doors of the emergency room finally opened.
The doctor stepped out, removing his gloves.
Everyone immediately stood up.
Mahendra.
Mahesh.
Haji.
Shabana.
Yash, Aarav, Aadhya, Ayat, and Aarhan.
Poornima was the first to reach him.
Her hands were trembling.
Poornima: "Doctor..."
Poornima: "How is my husband?"
The doctor looked at the family before speaking.
His expression was serious.
For a moment, no one breathed.
Doctor: "Mr. Veeresh Rathore is alive."
Everyone let out the breath they had been holding.
But the doctor continued.
Doctor: "However..."
The word made everyone's heart sink again.
Doctor: "He suffered a sudden collapse due to a severe migraine episode combined with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, and continuous work-related stress."
Mahesh closed his eyes in relief and worry at the same time.
The doctor continued,
Doctor: "His blood pressure dropped suddenly, which caused him to faint."
Poornima's eyes filled with tears.
Doctor: "The good news is that he reached the hospital in time."
Doctor: "At the moment, he is stable."
Mahendra folded his hands and silently thanked God.
Haji whispered,
Haji Kareem: "Alhamdulillah..."
But the doctor wasn't finished.
He looked directly at the family.
Doctor: "From now on, he cannot ignore his health."
His tone became firm.
Doctor: "No skipping medicines."
Doctor: "No driving long distances alone when he has a migraine."
Poornima lowered her head, remembering how he had forgotten his tablets.
Doctor: "No excessive work without proper sleep."
He paused.
Doctor: "If he continues living like this, the next episode could be much more dangerous."
Silence filled the corridor.
Those words hit everyone hard.
Mahendra looked down.
Mahesh clenched his fists.
Yash and Aarav exchanged worried glances.
Poornima couldn't stop crying.
The doctor softened his voice.
Doctor: "He's still unconscious because of the medication."
Doctor: "We'll keep him under observation."
Doctor: "If everything remains stable, he should regain consciousness in a few hours."
Poornima quickly asked,
Poornima: "Can I see him?"
The doctor nodded.
Doctor: "One person at a time."
Without waiting another second, Poornima walked toward the room.
Just before entering, she looked back once at the family.
Haji smiled faintly through his tears.
Mahendra nodded reassuringly.
She entered the room.
Veeresh lay peacefully on the hospital bed, an IV attached to his hand and monitors softly beeping beside him.
Poornima slowly walked to his bedside.
She gently held his hand.
It was warm.
A fresh wave of relief washed over her.
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
She bent down and kissed his forehead.
Then, resting her forehead against his hand, she whispered,
Poornima: "You scared me, Veer."
Her voice broke.
Poornima: "Don't do this again."
She squeezed his hand gently.
Poornima: "You still have to tease me..."
A small smile appeared through her tears.
Poornima: "...and you still have to call me 'Poons.'"
The steady rhythm of the heart monitor echoed through the quiet room.
For Poornima, it was the most comforting sound in the world.
