Chapter 26: The Pag Phera Invitation

The next morning, after breakfast, Devraj was reading the newspaper in the living room when his phone rang.

He looked at the screen and smiled.

Devraj: "Raghav!"

He answered the call.

Devraj: "Good morning, Raghav."

Raghav: "Good morning, Dev."

"How is everyone?"

Devraj: "All good."

"And how are you and Shirisha?"

Raghav: "We're fine."

He paused before asking the question that had been on his mind.

Raghav: "Tell me honestly..."

"How are those two?"

Devraj laughed.

Devraj: "Better than I expected."

Raghav became curious.

Raghav: "Really?"

Devraj: "They still call each other 'Rakshas' and 'Chudail.'"

"But the fights have become lighter."

"They're talking."

"They're laughing."

"Yesterday, Veeresh ordered desserts from Poornima's bakery for the entire VDS Industries staff."

Raghav smiled.

Raghav: "That's good."

Devraj continued,

Devraj: "He even asked her to bring extra brownies home."

"And she charged him for it."

Both men burst into laughter.

Raghav: "That sounds exactly like Poornima."

Devraj: "And Veeresh said he'd become her permanent customer."

"I think they're slowly becoming comfortable with each other."

Raghav let out a relieved sigh.

Raghav: "Thank God."

Just then, Shirisha walked into the room.

Shirisha: "Who's on the phone?"

Raghav: "Dev."

She immediately took the phone.

Shirisha: "Namaste, Bhai."

Devraj smiled.

Devraj: "Namaste, Shirisha."

Shirisha: "Bhai..."

"I called to remind you."

"The Pag Phera rasam is still pending."

"Our daughter has to come home after the wedding."

"We'll keep them for the day."

"Please send both Veeresh and Poornima."

Devraj nodded with a smile.

Devraj: "Of course."

"It's her first visit after marriage."

"We'll send them today."

Shirisha smiled happily.

Shirisha: "We'll prepare all her favourite dishes."

"And I want to spend some time with my daughter and grandchildren."

Devraj: "She'll be very happy."

Shirisha: "Thank you, Bhai."

Devraj: "We'll send them after they get ready."

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, the call ended.

Devraj looked toward the staircase and smiled to himself.

Devraj: "Time for the Pag Phera."

He called out loudly,

Devraj: "Veeresh... Poornima..."

"Get ready."

"We're sending both of you to the Rathore Mansion."

From upstairs, Veeresh's voice echoed,

Veeresh: "Coming, Dad!"

A moment later, Poornima stepped out of the room with a curious expression.

Poornima: "Papa, did Appa call?"

Devraj smiled warmly.

Devraj: "Yes, beta."

"Your Appa and Amma are waiting."

"It's time for your Pag Phera."

A smile spread across Poornima's face.

It would be her first visit to her childhood home as a married woman.
