Chapter 30: Walking Away Together
The corridor remained silent.
Raghav looked sternly at Riya and Aaravi.
Raghav: "I asked you to apologize."
Riya lowered her head.
She walked towards Poornima.
Riya: "I'm... sorry, Poornima."
"I shouldn't have spoken like that."
Poornima looked at her for a moment.
She simply nodded.
Poornima: "I accept your apology."
Aaravi also lowered her gaze, unable to meet anyone's eyes.
Veeresh looked at Raghav.
His voice was calm.
Veeresh: "Appa..."
Raghav turned towards him.
Raghav: "Yes, beta?"
Veeresh: "Poornima will always have every right to come to this house."
"She's your daughter."
"No one can take that away."
He paused before continuing.
Veeresh: "But after what happened today..."
"I don't want her coming here alone."
"If she comes..."
"I'll come with her."
"And if I'm unable to come..."
"She won't come by herself."
Poornima looked at him in surprise.
He wasn't restricting her.
He was making sure she would never have to face humiliation alone.
Raghav understood immediately.
He nodded.
Raghav: "I understand, beta."
"I respect your decision."
Shirisha's eyes filled with tears.
She looked at Veeresh with gratitude.
Shirisha: "Thank you for standing by our daughter."
Veeresh shook his head gently.
Veeresh: "She's my wife."
"It's my responsibility."
He turned towards Poornima.
His expression softened.
Veeresh: "Poons..."
"Let's go."
Poornima silently nodded.
Veeresh walked to the cradle and gently lifted one twin into his arms.
Poornima picked up the other.
As they walked toward the stairs, Veeresh reached for her free hand.
She looked at him.
Without saying a word, she placed her hand in his.
He held it firmly.
Together...
They walked downstairs.
Raghav, Shirisha, Savithri, Revanth, and Rohit watched them leave.
There was sadness over what had happened.
But there was also relief.
Poornima was no longer fighting her battles alone.
As Veeresh opened the car door for her and made sure both babies were settled safely inside, Raghav quietly whispered to Shirisha,
Raghav: "Today..."
"I didn't just see a son-in-law."
"I saw a husband."
Shirisha smiled through her tears.
Shirisha: "And our daughter finally has someone who stands beside her."
Veeresh got into the driver's seat.
He glanced once at Poornima.
Veeresh: "Ready, Chudail?"
A faint smile appeared on her face despite the emotional day.
Poornima: "Let's go, Rakshas."
The car slowly drove out of the Rathore Mansion, carrying not just a husband, wife, and two little children—but a family learning to stand together through every storm.
