Chapter 34: An Invitation to London

The family returned to the Singh Mansion after the naming ceremony at Mahakal Mandir.

Everyone was happy.

The twins, now officially named Thoshini Veeresh Singh and Rudraksha Veeresh Singh, slept peacefully after the long journey.

Later that evening, Veeresh was in his study when his phone rang.

He looked at the caller ID.

It was his lawyer from London.

He answered immediately.

Veeresh: "Hello."

Lawyer: "Mr. Singh, the court has scheduled the next hearing."

"We'll need you in London."

Veeresh: "When?"

Lawyer: "As soon as possible. I'll email you the details."

Veeresh nodded.

Veeresh: "Sure."

"I'll be there."

After ending the call, he sat quietly for a few moments.

He knew this hearing was important.

Just then, there was a knock on the study door.

Poornima: "Veer?"

He looked up.

Veeresh: "Yes, Poons?"

She walked inside with a file in her hand.

Poornima: "Do you know Mr. Arnav Qureshi?"

Veeresh raised an eyebrow.

Veeresh: "Yes."

"I know him."

Poornima: "His company has placed a corporate order with my bakery."

Veeresh became curious.

Veeresh: "Really?"

Poornima: "Yes."

"It's for a corporate event."

Veeresh leaned back in his chair.

In the business world, Arnav Qureshi was one of his strongest competitors.

So, my rival has become my wife's client, he thought with a faint smile.

He looked at Poornima.

Veeresh: "When is the event?"

Poornima: "The day after tomorrow."

"He has ordered macarons, tea cakes, cupcakes, and brownies."

Veeresh nodded thoughtfully.

He remembered the London hearing.

Then, trying to sound casual, he asked,

Veeresh: "Hmm..."

"So..."

"If someone had to travel..."

"And if there happened to be work in London..."

"It might be convenient if two people travelled together."

Poornima folded her arms.

She looked at him with an amused smile.

Poornima: "Rakshas..."

"What exactly are you trying to say?"

Veeresh scratched the back of his neck.

Veeresh: "Nothing..."

"I was just thinking..."

Poornima laughed.

Poornima: "Do you want me to come to London with you?"

Veeresh looked at her and smiled.

This time, he answered honestly.

Veeresh: "Yes."

"I do."

Poornima shook her head with a smile.

Poornima: "Rakshas..."

"Couldn't you just say that straight?"

Veeresh laughed.

Veeresh: "I was trying."

Poornima: "Trying very badly."

Both of them laughed together.

Then Poornima smiled warmly.

Poornima: "I'll come with you."

"If we can manage the bakery schedule and the babies' travel."

Veeresh nodded.

Veeresh: "We'll plan everything together."

For the first time, the trip to London no longer felt like something Veeresh had to face alone. It would be a journey shared with his wife and their growing family.
