Chapter 41: Reassurance
The event came to an end.
Veeresh and Poornima thanked Arnav and the other guests before leaving together.
During the drive home, neither of them spoke much.
Every now and then, Veeresh glanced at Poornima.
She noticed but simply smiled.
Singh Mansion
After returning home, they quietly went upstairs to their room.
The twins were asleep in their cradles, looked after by Rukmini and Devraj while they had been away.
Poornima checked on the babies, gently adjusting their blankets.
As she turned around, she found Veeresh standing behind her.
He took a step closer.
Poornima: "What is it, Veer?"
Without saying a word, he cupped her face gently and kissed her.
Poornima was surprised for a moment, then she smiled and returned the kiss.
When they pulled back, Veeresh rested his forehead against hers.
Veeresh: "Poons..."
She looked into his eyes.
Poornima: "Hmm?"
Veeresh: "You're mine."
He smiled sheepishly.
Veeresh: "And... I don't like seeing other men getting too close to you."
Poornima understood exactly what he meant.
She smiled softly.
Poornima: "I know, Veer."
She gently held his hand.
Poornima: "But you don't have to worry."
"I'm not leaving you."
"You're my husband."
Veeresh's worried expression finally disappeared.
A smile spread across his face.
Veeresh: "That's all I needed to hear."
Poornima smiled back.
Poornima: "Now stop overthinking, Rakshas."
He laughed quietly.
Veeresh: "Yes, Chudail."
Unable to resist, he leaned forward once more and placed a gentle peck on her lips.
Poornima laughed softly and lightly tapped his shoulder.
Poornima: "If the babies wake up because of you..."
"You'll be the one putting them back to sleep."
Veeresh grinned.
Veeresh: "Deal."
Just then, they heard a tiny sound from one of the cradles.
Both of them instinctively turned toward their children together, smiling as they walked over—setting aside jealousy and choosing, once again, the little family they were building.
