Chapter 27 — Public Manners
The grand entrance of the Taj Residency was filled with political leaders, party members, journalists, and influential guests.
Veeresh walked inside with Noor in his arms, while Poornima walked beside him.
She stayed close to him, her expression calm and composed.
As they entered the main hall, several people approached Veeresh.
Veeresh greeted them before turning toward Poornima.
Veeresh: "Let me introduce you. This is my wife, Poornima Veeresh Qureshi."
Poornima smiled politely and greeted everyone respectfully.
Poornima: "Namaste. It's nice to meet you."
She spoke with perfect manners, maintaining a calm and respectful expression.
Veeresh watched her for a moment.
He looked genuinely pleased.
After they moved away from the group, he leaned slightly toward her.
Veeresh: "I'm impressed."
Poornima looked at him.
Poornima: "Why?"
Veeresh: "This respect for me."
Poornima gave him a look.
Poornima: "And?"
Veeresh smiled.
Veeresh: "I'm happy."
Poornima folded her arms.
Poornima: "I know how to behave in a public place."
She glanced around before looking back at him.
Poornima: "But in the house, I can do whatever I want."
Veeresh raised an eyebrow.
Poornima: "And you're supposed to bear it with me."
She looked at Noor.
Poornima: "Right, Bubba?"
Noor smiled at her.
Poornima smiled proudly.
Poornima: "See? Bubba agrees with me."
Veeresh shook his head.
Veeresh: "Of course she does."
Poornima looked at him with mock seriousness.
Poornima: "I have sense."
Veeresh immediately replied,
Veeresh: "I thought you didn't have any."
Poornima's eyes widened.
Poornima: "What did you say?"
Veeresh tried to hide his smile.
Veeresh: "Nothing."
Poornima stepped closer.
Before he could react, she lightly stamped his foot with her heels.
Veeresh immediately winced.
Veeresh: "Poornima!"
She smiled innocently.
Poornima: "Your gadha."
Veeresh stared at her.
Veeresh: "You just stamped my foot."
Poornima: "You deserved it."
She turned away, trying not to laugh.
Veeresh looked at Noor, who was still smiling in his arms.
Veeresh: "Your mother is impossible."
Poornima turned back immediately.
Poornima: "I heard that!"
Veeresh smiled.
Veeresh: "I know."
Poornima shook her head and walked ahead.
Veeresh followed her, carrying Noor.
For everyone around them, they looked like a perfectly composed political couple.
But only the two of them knew what was actually happening between them.
And somehow, despite everything, their arguments were beginning to feel less like hatred...
and more like the strange, chaotic language they had created between them.
