Chapter 31 — Not Everyone Has to Give It Up
They finally reached the Qureshi mansion.
Veeresh got out of the car first and helped Poornima inside. Noor was carried in by the nanny.
As they entered the dining area, Veeresh immediately called one of the maids.
Veeresh: "Don't make mushroom or red meat. Poornima is allergic to them."
Before the maid could respond, Poornima looked at him.
Poornima: "Your gadha, only keep quiet."
Veeresh turned toward her.
Veeresh: "What?"
Poornima looked at the maid.
Poornima: "Make mushroom and red meat."
Veeresh stared at her.
Poornima: "Just don't add them to my food."
The maid nodded.
Maid: "Okay, madam."
Poornima smiled and walked upstairs.
Veeresh followed her, still confused.
Once they reached their room, he closed the door.
Veeresh: "Why did you tell her to make them?"
Poornima looked at him.
Poornima: "Because I don't want to be selfish."
Veeresh frowned.
Veeresh: "How is that selfish?"
Poornima sat down on the edge of the bed.
Poornima: "Just because I'm allergic doesn't mean everyone else has to stop eating them."
She looked at him seriously.
Poornima: "Other people like mushrooms and red meat. They don't have an allergy."
Veeresh remained quiet.
Poornima: "Let them make it."
She shrugged.
Poornima: "They can prepare something different for me."
Veeresh looked at her for a moment.
He had been worried about her after the reaction in the car.
But now he understood what she meant.
She wasn't asking the entire household to change their food because of her.
She simply wanted her own portion prepared separately.
Veeresh: "You could have told me that."
Poornima rolled her eyes.
Poornima: "I just did."
Veeresh shook his head with a faint smile.
Veeresh: "You're impossible."
Poornima smiled.
Poornima: "And you're a gadha."
Veeresh laughed softly.
Veeresh: "Fine."
He looked at her seriously again.
Veeresh: "But promise me you'll be careful."
Poornima nodded.
Poornima: "I will."
Veeresh walked toward the door.
Before leaving, he turned around.
Veeresh: "And if you ever have another reaction, tell me immediately."
Poornima smiled.
Poornima: "Okay, Veer."
He nodded and walked out.
Poornima watched him leave.
Despite everything, she couldn't help smiling slightly.
Her husband was still an annoying gadha.
But he was beginning to care about the little things.
