Chapter 48 — The Background Verification
Veeresh took the laptop from the room and walked toward his study.
His mind was already focused on Poornima's restaurant project.
She had spent an entire year researching the properties, but she had admitted that she hadn't done a proper legal background check.
Veeresh entered his study and picked up his phone.
He immediately called his trusted assistant, Rayan.
Veeresh: "Rayan, I need the complete details of the lands I'm going to send you."
Rayan: "Yes, sir."
Veeresh opened the property files on his laptop.
Veeresh: "I want a complete background verification on every property."
Rayan: "What exactly should I check, sir?"
Veeresh's voice became firm.
Veeresh: "Ownership first. I want to know exactly who owns each property and whether the ownership documents are genuine."
He paused.
Veeresh: "Check whether any of the lands belong to the government or whether they have been acquired, reserved, or notified for any government purpose."
Rayan: "Understood, sir."
Veeresh: "Check for pending court cases, disputes, claims, mortgages, loans, liens, or any other encumbrances."
Rayan began taking notes.
Veeresh: "Also verify whether there are any restrictions on construction or commercial use."
Rayan: "I'll check the zoning and land-use permissions as well."
Veeresh: "Good."
Veeresh looked at the restaurant layout again.
Veeresh: "I don't want a single issue missed."
Rayan: "How quickly do you need the report?"
Veeresh thought for a moment.
Veeresh: "As soon as possible, but don't rush the verification. I want accurate information."
Rayan: "Yes, sir."
Veeresh continued.
Veeresh: "Check the road access, property boundaries, development permissions, utilities, and whether there are any notices against the property."
Rayan: "I'll have the legal team verify everything."
Veeresh: "And Rayan..."
Rayan: "Yes, sir?"
Veeresh's tone became particularly serious.
Veeresh: "These properties are for Poornima's restaurant. I don't want her putting her savings into land that has even the smallest unresolved legal problem."
There was a brief silence.
Rayan: "Understood, sir. I'll personally supervise the verification."
Veeresh: "Good. Send me a separate report for every property. Include the documents and your findings."
Rayan: "I'll get started immediately."
The call ended.
Veeresh leaned back in his chair.
He looked once more at the restaurant design on his laptop.
Poornima had three crores saved.
She had built this dream herself.
He wasn't going to let a bad property deal destroy it.
For once, his power wasn't going to be used to control her.
It was going to be used to protect the dream she had chosen for herself.
