Chapter 51 — The Land He Chose

Veeresh left his study and walked toward the room.

When he entered, he found Poornima sitting on the floor with Bubba.

Noor was happily drawing on the wall with her crayons.

Poornima looked at the colourful marks and smiled.

Poornima: "Good, Bubba. Very good."

Veeresh smiled as he watched them.

Poornima noticed him standing at the door.

Poornima: "What is it, Veer?"

Before Veeresh could answer, Poornima looked at Noor.

Poornima: "Bubba, wash your hands."

Noor immediately got up.

Noor: "Okay, Mumma."

Poornima helped her wash her hands properly.

Poornima: "Good girl. Now no touching the walls."

Noor nodded seriously.

Noor: "Okay."

Veeresh smiled at the little girl.

Poornima returned and sat down.

Poornima: "Now tell me. What happened?"

Veeresh opened the file on his laptop.

Veeresh: "I got the background verification reports for the properties you shortlisted."

Poornima immediately became interested.

Poornima: "Really?"

Veeresh nodded.

He showed her the different properties and explained what Rayan had found.

Veeresh: "Some of them have legal issues. One has an ownership dispute, and another has restrictions that could make construction difficult."

Poornima listened carefully.

Then Veeresh opened the fourth property.

Veeresh: "This one is different."

He showed her the documents.

Veeresh: "The ownership records are clear based on the checks we've done. We didn't find any pending litigation or government acquisition notice in the records checked."

He continued explaining.

Veeresh: "The location is good, there is proper road access, enough space for parking, and the land is suitable for the restaurant layout you designed."

Poornima looked at the property photographs.

Poornima: "What about the price?"

Veeresh showed her the estimated cost.

Veeresh: "It fits within your planned budget."

Poornima studied everything for a few moments.

Then she closed the laptop.

Veeresh looked at her.

Veeresh: "What do you think?"

Poornima smiled.

Poornima: "Veer, you choose."

Veeresh raised an eyebrow.

Veeresh: "Me?"

Poornima: "Yes."

She smiled at him.

Poornima: "I'm not getting all this legal and land stuff. You understand it better."

She pointed toward the laptop.

Poornima: "You choose the land, and I will go for it."

Veeresh looked at her for a moment.

Veeresh: "Are you sure?"

Poornima nodded.

Poornima: "Yes. I trust your judgment on this."

Those words affected him more than she realized.

After everything that had happened between them, she was giving him a small piece of trust again.

Veeresh smiled.

Veeresh: "Okay."

Poornima looked at him.

Poornima: "Then choose the best one."

Veeresh: "I will."

Noor suddenly ran back toward them.

Noor: "Mumma!"

Poornima immediately opened her arms.

Poornima: "Come here, Bubba."

Noor climbed into her lap.

Veeresh watched them quietly.

For the first time, he felt that perhaps they weren't simply repairing their marriage.

They were slowly learning how to trust each other again.
