Chapter 67 — A New Beginning
Poornima and Veeresh reached Bubba's preschool.
Noor looked at the school building with excitement. She held Poornima's hand tightly at first, but as soon as she saw the other children, her face brightened.
Poornima: "Go, Bubba. Have fun."
Noor smiled and hugged her.
Noor: "Bye, Mumma. Bye, Papa."
Veeresh: "Bye, Bubba. Be a good girl."
Noor happily walked inside with her teacher.
Poornima watched her until she disappeared through the doorway.
Veeresh smiled.
Veeresh: "Our daughter will be happy."
Poornima nodded.
Poornima: "Yes, Veer. She will."
They got into the car and returned to the Qureshi household.
During the drive, Veeresh was unusually quiet.
Poornima noticed.
Poornima: "What happened, Veer?"
Veeresh looked at her.
Veeresh: "Poons, I have something to tell you."
Poornima: "Tell me."
He took a breath.
Veeresh: "I am contesting for the Chief Minister election."
Poornima looked at him for a moment.
Then she smiled.
Poornima: "Go ahead, Veer."
Veeresh looked surprised by how easily she accepted it.
Veeresh: "You're okay with it?"
Poornima nodded.
Poornima: "Of course. It's your career and your decision. If you want to contest, go ahead."
A genuine smile appeared on Veeresh's face.
Veeresh: "Thank you, Poons."
Soon they reached the Qureshi residence.
Veeresh dropped Poornima at the restaurant afterward.
Before she got out, he looked at her.
Veeresh: "I'll see you later."
Poornima: "Okay. Go file your nomination."
She smiled.
Poornima: "And don't be late."
Veeresh smiled back.
Veeresh: "Yes, madam."
Poornima stepped out and walked toward Noor, ready to begin her day at the restaurant.
Veeresh then drove toward the election office.
He had made his decision.
Today, he would officially file his nomination for the Chief Minister election.
As he entered the office with his documents, he knew the political battle ahead would be difficult.
But for the first time, he had something different waiting for him at home.
A wife who supported his decision.
A daughter who called him Papa.
And a family he wanted to make proud.
