Chapter 69 — The Ultimatum

Poornima was getting ready to leave for the Rathore mansion with Bubba.

She had packed a small bag for herself and another for Noor. She was checking everything carefully when Veeresh walked into the room.

He looked unusually serious.

Veeresh: "You're not going, Poornima."

Poornima turned around, confused.

Poornima: "What?"

Veeresh's expression remained cold.

Veeresh: "If you leave this house, forget Bubba and sign the divorce papers."

Poornima stared at him in shock.

Poornima: "Veer... what happened?"

He didn't answer immediately.

Veeresh: "That is final."

Poornima's eyes filled with tears.

Poornima: "Why are you suddenly saying this?"

Veeresh remained silent.

Mr. Qureshi, who had heard the conversation, walked toward them.

Mr. Qureshi: "Veer."

Veeresh turned toward his father.

Veeresh: "No, Appa."

Mr. Qureshi looked at his son sternly.

Mr. Qureshi: "Listen to yourself. You cannot speak to her like this."

Veeresh clenched his jaw.

Veeresh: "I said no, Appa."

Poornima couldn't take it anymore.

She picked up her bag, then put it down again as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Poornima: "I don't understand you."

She turned and walked into the room.

As soon as she closed the door, she broke down.

She sat on the edge of the bed and cried.

Poornima: "Why, Veer?"

She couldn't understand how everything had changed so suddenly.

Just hours ago, they had been talking normally.

He had agreed to come with her.

And now he was threatening her with divorce and Bubba.

Meanwhile, Veeresh walked into the study.

Mr. Qureshi followed him.

Veeresh stood near the window, his hands clenched.

Mr. Qureshi: "Why?"

Veeresh didn't turn around.

Mr. Qureshi: "Why did you suddenly tell her not to go?"

Veeresh remained silent.

Mr. Qureshi: "And why did you bring Bubba and divorce into it?"

Veeresh finally looked at his father.

His expression was filled with conflict.

Veeresh: "Because I am scared, Appa."

Mr. Qureshi's expression softened slightly.

Mr. Qureshi: "Scared of what?"

Veeresh looked toward the closed bedroom door.

Veeresh: "Of losing her."

Mr. Qureshi sighed.

Mr. Qureshi: "Then don't push her away by threatening her."

Veeresh lowered his gaze.

For the first time, even he knew that what he had said had gone too far.
